The attack on passengers over berth dispute has seen a rise. In the month of June, a Mainpuri youth was brutally murdered in front of scores of passengers by a group of men at Chamrola station, after the train (Anand Vihar- Kanpur Express) in which they were travelling made an unprecedented halt at the intermediate station to give way to other superfast trains. The youth was killed over berth dispute in general coach of the train. Later, on June 22, Junaid Khan was killed in Ballabgarh over the same issue.
